Linocut prints through the eyes of a Canadian born settler

Inspired by the beauty of the everyday, my hand printed works use a process of carving drawings into linoleum and then printing onto paper with oil-based inks and pressing with a glass baren. Multi-colour works require a process of layering that can take up to a month for me to produce. The results are often intensely colourful and stylized. It is a risky endeavor because there are so many things that can impact the prints.

As I navigate my creative process, I contemplate my relationship to land and water and to the people who have occupied the places I inhabit long before my arrival. While born in British Columbia, I am a settler and I reflect on how the Doctrine of Discovery has shaped my life and those whose land my ancestors occupied.

I am just beginning to share my works and process so check in periodically for updates and feel free to email me with questions.
